In a bold statement, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned opposition parties against drawing premature conclusions from Kamala Harris's defeat in the recent U.S. presidential election.

The APC asserts that President Bola Tinubu will secure a decisive victory in Nigeria's 2027 elections.

The U.S. election, which saw former President Donald Trump emerge victorious over incumbent Vice President Harris, has sparked discussions about incumbency and electoral processes in Nigeria.

Opposition parties, including the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, have pointed to the U.S. election as an example of a robust democratic process where incumbency does not guarantee victory.

However, APC National Publicity Director Bala Ibrahim dismissed these comparisons, emphasizing the differences between the U.S. and Nigerian electoral systems.

Ibrahim reminded critics of the 2015 Nigerian election, where then-incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari, demonstrating that incumbency is not always a deciding factor in Nigerian politics.

The APC spokesperson expressed confidence in President Tinubu's economic reforms, predicting that Nigerians will begin to see positive results by 2026-2027.

Ibrahim stated, "It will be almost impossible for someone to come from the outside, particularly an outsider that has failed the country before; an outsider that cannot contain its own crisis, to think of defeating the incumbent."

While acknowledging the opposition's concerns, Ibrahim assured that the APC and President Tinubu are not complacent and are actively strategizing for the future. He concluded by saying, "When we get to the bridge, we will see who have the strongest stride to cross it. And I assure you, the APC will not be found wanting. It will not be caught napping."
