After his outstanding performance against South Africa on Wednesday, Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who also plays for the South African Club Chippa United, has reportedly received threats from the country's football fans.

This threat was disclosed by former Super Eagles player Idah Peterside in an interview with Channels Television on Thursday. According to him, the South African supporters advised him not to go back to his club following the AFCON clash with Bafana Bafana.

Although there has been no official report of the threat, Some South Africans are thought to be upset with Nwabali for his part in keeping their team from making it to the finals.

Peterside said, “The biggest problem we have had is that we have gotten some messages sent to the goalkeeper, threatening him. I hear some people are telling him not to come back to South Africa since he didn’t want them to score. We have not heard of any violence, just threats. They have been threatening him and threatening some other people.”

In the semi-final matchup with Bafana Bafana, Nwabali displayed his abilities by stopping two penalties in the shootout and making critical saves during regulation time.
