Luke Shaw, a defender for Manchester United and England, has resumed training following a protracted injury layoff, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old left-back is back in full training ahead of Sunday's Premier League matchup with Everton after suffering a "muscle issue" in the first few weeks of the season.

Tyrell Malacia has missed the entire season due to injury, so Shaw's absence has caused a problem at left-back.

Sofyan Amrabat, Diogo Dalot, and Victor Lindelof have also filled in at the position; Sergio Reguilon was brought in on loan from Tottenham as a backup option.

Erik ten Hag's team has had a turbulent start to the season, and Shaw has been missed. Shaw was a major contributor to United's success the previous season.

They are currently ranked sixth in the Premier League and are in danger of being eliminated from the Champions League after losing five of their first twelve games.

The club is also concerned about a number of other injuries ahead of their trip to Goodison Park.

Before the international break, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund were added to the list of absentees, with goalkeeper Andre Onana injured while on Cameroon duty.

United will travel to Galatasary next week, knowing that a defeat would eliminate them from the Champions League.
