NPFL: Rivers United to Unveil Finidi As New Head Coach Thursday

Idongesit Udoewah

On Thursday, Rivers United will be unveiling Finidi George as their new head coach.

According to Lagos Local News, the 54-year-old will take over as manager of the former Nigeria Premier Football League champions after Stanley Eguma was fired near the end of last season.

The unveiling ceremony will take place at the Rivers United secretariat in Port Harcourt. Finidi is returning to the dugout after stepping down as Super Eagles head coach a few weeks ago.

The former Ajax winger guided Enyimba, the nine-time NPFL champions, for three years before coming on to coach the Super Eagles.

Finidi oversaw Enyimba's title victory in the 2022/23 season.

Last season, Rivers United finished ninth in the NPFL, which was disappointing.
