United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has partnered with Mastercard to launch a commemorative debit card in honor of UBA’s 75th anniversary.
This initiative aims to celebrate the bank's enduring relationships with its customers while enhancing their banking experience through various offers and discounts.
At the unveiling event, UBA’s Group Managing Director and CEO, Oliver Alawuba, emphasized that the new card is designed to reward customers with benefits, including a 25% discount on purchases at Jumia and $75 cashback on transactions made through AliExpress.
Alawuba noted that this collaboration reflects a shared vision between UBA and Mastercard to empower Africans by improving customer experiences with secure and convenient transactions.
“This new card represents the deepening of our relationship and our shared mission to empower millions of Nigerians and Africans by providing them with access to secure transactions and new opportunities across the continent,” Alawuba stated.
He also revealed plans for similar products to be introduced across all UBA subsidiaries, expressing confidence in the growing partnership with Mastercard in Africa.
Mark Elliott, Division President for Africa at Mastercard, praised the collaboration with UBA, highlighting its importance in bolstering Africa's digital economy.
