The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a significant shift towards the automation of its services as part of efforts to combat extortion and improve service delivery for candidates.
In a recent bulletin, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede emphasized the necessity of this transition, stating that reducing face-to-face contact would help mitigate potential exploitation and extortion risks.
He noted that interactions would soon be conducted primarily online, with all communications recorded for monitoring and quality assurance purposes.
The board has received numerous reports regarding unethical practices and has initiated an investigation into these claims.
Prof. Oloyede urged students who have experienced extortion by JAMB officials or associated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers to provide credible evidence, assuring that any staff found guilty will face strict consequences.
Prof. Oloyede also expressed confidence in the integrity of the majority of JAMB staff, asserting that over 99% are honest. However, he acknowledged the need to identify and address any misconduct within the organization.
