Nigerian comedienne, Anita Asuoha, famously known as Real Warri Pikin, has shared her struggle with an overwhelming debt of N22 million, leading to a suicide attempt.

In a post via her Instagram page on Wednesday, she narrated that while facing some financial pressure, a motivational speaker who had an encounter with her husband, Ikechukwu Asuoha, inspired him to explore various entrepreneurial ventures.

Inspired by the motivation, Anita affirmed her husband attempted several entrepreneurial endeavours to pursue financial success, but the attempt led the family into N22 million debt.

The comic performer, who narrated the story during the celebration of World Suicide Prevention Day, said that after all efforts failed, she tried suicide in June 2018.

“I attempted suicide so you don’t have to, in 2018, June 6, 3 pm in particular, I tried suicide; I gave up on life because the load was too much.

“Life just dey beat me left, right, and centre; life dey turn me round like a barber chair. And I felt like the only solution to break free is to end the pain,” Anita said in a video clip posted on her Instagram handle.

"I was saved by the intervention of a family member who came to visit just when I needed it most."

She stressed that though it might be difficult, life is in seasons and phases, advising her followers not to make suicide an option in the depths of despair.

“Suicide is a final decision for a temporary situation. And most of all, trust in God and do the one your power reaches,” the comedic performer asserted.

Asuoha had in 2019 revealed that depression led her to pursue comedy.
