Election: US Media Projects that Trump won in Most States
Former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump closed in on a new term in the White House early on Wednesday, requiring just a handful of electoral votes to defeat Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
The US media have so far projected that Trump has won in more than half of the 50 states, including three key battlegrounds: North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, two of which voted Democratic in the last election.
This gives the former Republican president 266 electoral votes, just shy of the 270 needed to win the presidency.
It was gathered that Fox News has already called the race in Trump’s favour.
Meanwhile, Trump's rival, Kamala Harris has so far captured 195 electoral votes, including major prizes California and New York, and also the US capital, Washington.
Here is a list of the states won by Trump and Harris and the corresponding number of electoral votes, based on the projections of US media outlets including CNN, MSNBC/NBC News, Fox News, CBS, and ABC.
