The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has urged Nigerians to adopt unity and seek inclusive national economic advancement for the common good of the nation.

The governor made the disclosure on Sunday, September 29, during a special church service at the Government House Chapel, Enugu, to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th independence.

Mbah, who portrayed the country’s 64th anniversary as a milestone, noting that it was a proof of the tenacious spirit of the Nigerian people.

While highlighting the important role of the government in upholding democracy, Mbah emphasised that Nigeria could only survive in an environment where everyone is given a sense of acceptance, with a deliberate effort to banish feelings of isolation.

“We need to come together as a nation and ensure that our economic development benefits everyone. That is the future of our economy." The governor stated.

He, however, called on Nigerians to endorse the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government and other leaders of the country for the nation to achieve its desired economic dreams.

“We are making steady progress. We may be making gradual progress. Possibly what we require to review now is whether the marginal or step-by-step progress we are making is sufficient or whether we should obviously think about ways that we can deploy troublesome discoveries to leapfrog some of the developmental problems we are faced with,” Mbah asserted.

In a sermon, Wilfred Agubuchie, the Diocesan Secretary/Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Enugu, advised political leaders and all leaders to use their status to work for the common good of the people.

He commended the governor’s groundbreaking strategy to leadership in the state, stating that the tax reforms in the state were a fair measure of making sure that the government delivers on its order.
