Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is scheduled to present the 2025 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
This update was shared by the Speaker of the House, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, during Tuesday’s plenary session. Egbedun confirmed that the governor sent a letter dated Nov. 11, titled Laying of Year 2025 Draft Budget of Osun State before the House, notifying the House of the upcoming budget presentation.
“I am pleased to inform the distinguished members of the Osun State House of Assembly through the Honourable Speaker of our intention to lay the 2025 draft budget of the state before the house on Wednesday, Nov. 13, having concluded its preparation and approved by the state executive council. This aligns with rules mandating that such a draft be presented to the House for approval by year-end,” read the governor's letter.
Additionally, the assembly observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, after a tribute was delivered by Mr. Adekunle Oladimeji, representing Irepodun/Orolu Constituency, Lagbaja’s constituency.
The House further deliberated on the Osun State Property Protection Bill 2024, which passed its first reading, while the Osun State Drug and Medical Supply Management Agency Establishment Bill 2024 was introduced by Majority Leader Mr. Babajide Kofoworola. Lawmakers expressed strong support for the bill, which aims to improve medical supply management in the state, and it passed for a second reading.
The session concluded with a committee discussion on the Osun State Consumer Protection Agency Establishment Bill 2024, underscoring the House's focus on consumer rights and public health initiatives.
