The Nigerian Army has announced that its internal security troops have murdered Maikusa, an infamous terrorist leader, who is equally the second-in-command in the ranking of the terrorists’ cell in Katsina state, chaired by the notorious terrorist known as Modi Modi.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, who revealed this stressed that the terrorist was murdered alongside three other terrorists in a shootout during a counterinsurgency operation in Kurfi and Safana Local Government axis of Katsina State on March 4.

Nwachukwu hinted that “the fierce operation also resulted in the victorious clearance of terrorists’ enclaves in these places.

“In the course of the operation, troops experienced vehement opposition from the violent extremists, but bravely prevailed over the terrorists with higher level firepower neutralizing some while others ran away inconfusion.

Subsequently, after the gun battle, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, a locally fabricated gun and camouflage uniform.

In continuation of the clearance operations, troops also pulled down terrorists’ camps in Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni, and Dogon Marke villages in Kurfi LGA, as well as Ummadau and Zakka villages in Safana LGA.

The troops have returned to maintain a hostile posture in the general axis to clear remnants of the terrorists cell, and ensure the well being and security of people in the zone.
