The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the premier Igbo socio-cultural group, has praised the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for his persistent devotion and perseverance in the face of obstacles and opposition in his line of duty.

Ohanaeze predicted that Umahi's fixation on concrete technology would cement his position in President Bola Tinubu's cabinet.

The group praised the minister's commitment to building new Super Highways and adopting cement technology for road surface construction, all of which were approved by President Tinubu.

According to a statement issued by Ohanaeze's factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the cement concrete revolutionary technique, which promises roads that would endure more than 50 years, was first greeted with resistance from some contractors, who cited the high cost of cement as a barrier.

However, a statement by Isiguzoro said the recent “crash in the prices of BUA Cement has vindicated Senator Umahi’s position on cement technology. The high demand for cement technology has led to a decrease in the prices of cement, eliminating any excuses for not implementing Senator Umahi’s recommendation for cement technology.”

The Ohanaeze noted that the “Nigerian populace’s expectations for durable roads built with cement technology are now feasible.

“The craving for roads that will last 50 years has made Senator Engineer Dave Umahi a celebrated figure and the pillar of President Tinubu’s administration.”

The group also praised Umahi for his calm resolution with Ministry of Works officials and workers, referring to the situation as "family friction."

“His fatherly approach to change workers’ attitudes towards lateness to work has been well received,” he said.

Ohanaeze also urged Tinubu to increase funding for the Ministry of Works to ensure seamless operations in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
