Dangote Cement Plc has initiated a series of community service projects through its Obajana Plant as part of the 2024 Sustainability Week in Kogi State.

Dr. Eseosa Ighile, Head of the Sustainability Department at Dangote Cement, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “We are using the Sustainability Week to engage with and support local communities through donations and outreach.”

As part of the week’s activities, the Obajana Sustainability Champions visited the Ministry of Mercy Orphanage in Lokoja, delivering essential supplies and food items.

They also spent quality time with the children at the orphanage, participating in games and activities that fostered a sense of community.

The initiative not only strengthened Dangote Cement’s relationship with the orphanage but also boosted employee morale through active participation in community service.

The management of the orphanage expressed gratitude for the company’s contributions, noting the positive impact of their visit.

Azad Nawabuddin, Plant Director at Dangote Cement Plc, described this year’s Sustainability Week as impactful, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 11, which focuses on sustainable cities and communities.

He remarked that the week was filled with activities that encouraged employee and stakeholder engagement alongside charity outreach programs.

Furthermore, Dangote Cement utilized this week to educate young people about climate change and health-related issues, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and public health in its host communities.
