National President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Tommy Okon, revealed that over 5,000 federal civil servants facing discrepancies in their dates of first appointment and dates of birth may encounter a delay in receiving their December salary.
In his statement, Okon emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the union and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, indicating that the union has submitted the names of the affected workers to their Directors of Human Resources for confirmation.
Highlighting progress, Okon stated that 2,772 workers have successfully undergone the necessary verification processes and have been reinstated on the Federal Government's payroll. He urged the Federal Government to expedite actions and ensure that the December salary for civil servants undergoing various exercises to reintegrate into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) is not subject to delays.
Addressing the challenges faced by members affected by the reintegration process, Okon reassured them of the union's commitment to resolving the issues promptly within the confines of the law. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, he outlined the completion of the physical verification exercise for the '17,000' core civil servants delisted from IPPIS in October 2023. However, he noted that while those who completed their verification and were mistakenly delisted have had their salaries restored, 5,000 civil servants still grapple with discrepancies in their dates of first appointment and dates of birth.
Okon disclosed that out of the total, 2,772 workers with no issues in their verification process have been verified and forwarded to IPPIS for payment. The remaining 5,000 workers with discrepancies are awaiting confirmation from their Directors of Human Resources. Okon urged public servants to check the Head of Service (HOS) website for regular updates, confirming the completion of the salary for November 2023. He concluded by appealing to the Federal Government, through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to expedite actions to ensure that the December salary is not delayed.
