On Friday, a law professor at Babcock University in Ilishan, Ogun State named Yinka Olomojobi was killed by gunmen, while two others were abducted in the Iperu area of the state.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9:20 pm, when eight unidentified gunmen dressed in black outfits opened fire on people who were relaxing in a lounge. This caused chaos as guests fled. Professor Olomojobi Yinka was shot in the chest when he reportedly refused to go away with the hoodlums. Sadly, Olomojobi died from his injuries, while two residents were taken to an undisclosed location.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident when contacted. She noted that one person had been apprehended in connection with the incident.

A two-week-old security guard was apprehended based on reasonable suspicion as police commenced a discreet investigation. Awada Ishaya of Plateau State, who was employed as a security man two weeks ago when the event centre was opened, was apprehended for further questioning due to a suspicious coincidence.

Similarly, Odutola said the lecturer was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead. The police are currently working to apprehend the culprits and free the abducted victims.
