Just In: Simon Ekpa Apprehended in Finland Over Terror Allegations

The police noted that Simon Ekpa, known as the main suspect, was held on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.

Biafran Political activist and self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, Ekpa Simon Njoku, famously known as Simon Ekpa has been apprehended in Finland alongside four other individuals over alleged terror-related crimes.

It was gathered that Ekpa was remanded in custody by the Päijät-Häme District Court on allegations of public provocation to commit a crime with terrorist intent.

According to a press statement on Thursday, November 21, the Finnish Central Criminal Police verified the apprehension of five individuals suspected of terrorist activities.

The police noted that Simon Ekpa, known as the main suspect, was held “on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent,” while the four others were arrested for financing a terrorist crime.”

The police statement, however, disclosed: “Claims will be heard in Päijät-Häme district court today, November 21.”

It explained that the probe revolves around a “Finnish citizen of Nigerian background, born in the 1980s, suspected of public incitement to commit an offense with terrorist intent.

The police suspect that the man has publicized his efforts from Finland by means that have led to crises against civilians and authorities as well as other offenses in the region of South-Eastern Nigeria.”

Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, head of the probe, stated: “The man has performed this activity, among other things, on his social media channels.”

The four other culprits are alleged to have been financing the activities under probe. “All five suspects of the crime have been apprehended during the beginning of the week,” the statement asserted. It added that international cooperation has been integral to the preliminary probe.
