This significant development was revealed during the 101st Retirement Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony, held in Lagos on Wednesday, which saw a considerable gathering of the state's retirees.

Mr. Babalola Obilana, the Director-General of the Lagos State Pension Commission, emphasized that the retirement bond certificates carried more than just monetary value. He stated that they symbolized the deep trust and confidence the state places in its retirees.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration continues to uphold this commitment by presenting an additional set of 644 retirees with a sum totaling N2.02 billion. These funds represent their accrued service benefits before the introduction of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in 2007.

Obilana highlighted the certificates' significance as testimonials to the retirees' enduring impact. He acknowledged their dedication, which forms the foundation of the "goal of a greater Lagos." Their dedication and diligence have set a remarkable precedent for those who will carry the state's legacy into the future.

The director-general lauded the retirees for their outstanding contributions and unwavering dedication throughout their service years. He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for ensuring the consistent and timely payment of pension obligations to retirees.

The governor's commitment to the principles of the CPS and his prioritization of the well-being of the public service workforce, even in retirement, were acknowledged by Obilana.
