Leave Or Face Death- ISWAP Issues Quit Notice To Borno Communities
Published on

Just four days after killing fifteen fishermen in the Tumbun Rogo community, Islamic State - West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists have warned the residents of Kukawa LGA to evacuate their hometowns or face death at the hands of the terror group. A resident who fled his community to Maiduguri three hours after receiving the threat revealed this to newsmen.

While recounting his ordeal, the resident, who had asked for anonymity, stated that the terrorists gathered residents from different communities in the local government area in the early hours of Thursday and instructed them to leave their houses by Saturday or face death.

According to him, as soon as they got the terrorist warning, communities began to evacuate, some to Kross Kauwa and others to Monguno.

Kukawa is popular for fishing, farming, and other agricultural value-chain activities. it is bordered by Lake Chad and has the presence of troops of the Nigerian Army and the Navy.

Despite being displaced by the insurgents during the insurgency, some communities, including Kross Kauwa, Baga, Doron-Baga, the Kukawa community, and Tumbun Rogo, were resettled by the Professor Babagana Zulum administration.

Despite the restoration of relative peace and stability in the area, Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have continued to attack the communities because of the area's socioeconomic value to the terrorists, who rely on fishing and farming activities for survival and financial support.
