Osun Set to Finalize Decision on New Minimum Wage

The Osun State Government is on the verge of implementing the new minimum wage, with the committee tasked with overseeing the process set to submit its recommendations for consequential adjustments.

Speaking on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, confirmed that the minimum wage is a binding law for both public and private sectors in the state. He also noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke has established a committee, chaired by his Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, to finalize the necessary adjustments.

Alimi stated, “The Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee, set up by Governor Ademola Adeleke, is nearing completion of its assignment. The committee has been working diligently to ensure the process is concluded without complications.”

The Commissioner further explained that the committee's mandate is to propose recommendations on consequential adjustments following the minimum wage law.

A circular from the Office of the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, revealed that the committee members, led by Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, representing the government, while the labour side is headed by the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Arapasopo Abimbola Christopher.

Other government representatives include the Head of Service and commissioners for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, and Information, among others.
