All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has urged the Nigerian Police not to succumb to the pressure of moving the main suspect of the Presidential hotel blast in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, to Abuja.

Under the close supervision of State Police Command agents, the suspect is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital after attempting to detonate an explosive device close to the President Hotel in the state capital, severely damaging his limb.

According to Eze's statement from yesterday, there is pressure on Force Headquarters to move the main suspect in the explosion to Abuja. As a result, he is concerned that the investigation of the incident could be tainted by excessive involvement.

He therefore called on the Inspector General of Police to resist any pressure on him to scuttle an investigation into the incident to unravel the masked man of influence fueling armed conflict in the state to overthrow the Government of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The APC chairman condemned attempts by some lawmakers and previous council chairs to use the state's political playground as a bloody, violent theatre to support their demand for an emergency rule.

He argued that it was improper for certain politicians to openly use armed force to impose their excessive will on the country and its citizens in violation of the law's spirit and in defiance of a legitimate police force order to "cease and desist."
