The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has expressed concern about the possibility of violent elements hijacking the planned nationwide protest against hardship. Intelligence reports suggest that the protest is a ploy to replicate similar events that occurred in Kenya.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, made these concerns known during a press briefing in Abuja. He stated that there are strong indicators that dishonest elements plan to take over the protest, leading to chaos.

He announced that the military would not allow the nation to descend into anarchy and will take action to prevent violent occurrences. General Buba also warned that potential disruptions by individuals with malicious intent could turn the peaceful demonstration into a violent one.

The armed forces have the responsibility to prevent violence during the protest and have intelligence suggesting how such violence might unfold. While citizens have the right to protest peacefully, they do not have the right to incite chaos and violence.

Major General Buba advised citizens to recognize the unique circumstances surrounding this protest and called for calm to allow the government to address the issue and restore national prosperity.
