President Bola Tinubu has called on media managers to prioritize factual reporting and maintain professional integrity. Speaking at the All Nigerian Editors Conference in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, he emphasized the media's crucial role in national development.

The conference, themed “Economic Growth and Development Strategies in a Resource-Rich Country,” gathered media owners, editors, and stakeholders who urged the President to take action to support the struggling media industry amid ongoing economic challenges.

Represented by Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, Tinubu highlighted that editors and media managers are essential custodians of public perception and the voice of the people.

He stated, “Your role in national development cannot be overemphasized,” underscoring the transformative potential of the media in shaping public understanding and supporting government initiatives.

Tinubu urged media professionals to report truthfully and engage constructively with the public to enhance understanding of government actions. He reiterated his administration's commitment to converting challenges into opportunities, aiming for a prosperous Nigeria through effective resource management.

“With a united effort from government, citizens, and the media, we can build a resilient, diversified economy that offers security, opportunity, and hope for all Nigerians,” he added.

The conference also saw calls from attendees for Tinubu to intervene in revitalizing Nigeria's media landscape, which has been facing significant difficulties due to economic pressures.
