Two people lost their lives early Monday morning when a passenger bus collided with a truck along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. Four others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 14 escaped unhurt.

According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the accident involved an unregistered Howo truck and a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number BEN 823 ZW. The crash was attributed to speeding on the part of the bus driver, leading to a loss of control and the subsequent collision.

Akinbiyi reported that 20 people were involved in the accident, consisting of 15 males and five females. "The accident occurred around 06:30hrs at Area Command hill, Inbound Ijebu Ode, on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. Eyewitnesses stated that the bus driver’s excessive speed led to the crash," he said.
