The leadership of the All Progressives Congress,(APC) in Anambra State has denied the existence of a zoning agreement that favours the next governor to come from Anambra South, only 48 hours after the party's elders opted to accept it.

While outlining the party's stance, Dr. Valentine Iyke-Oliobi, the APC's state publicity secretary, advised the people of Anambra to disregard the party's Elders Forum as such a forum doesn't exist.

Oliobi stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Anambra State wishes to make it clear that their party does not have any zoning agreements.

All candidates for governorship under the APC platform have always been given equal opportunities to compete, regardless of their senatorial district. Nothing has changed regarding this practice. As a result, they urge well-meaning party members to ignore the aforementioned article, implying that the APC has a zoning agreement in place.

“The APC is a united family, and as such, any crucial decision that will be taken by the party would be made collectively. The APC remains committed in its effort to give Anambra people a viable alternative to the failed party called the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which has grossly mismanaged the affairs of Ndi Anambra in the past 18 years.”

The APC elders supported the zoning system but contended that it would be best for the party to run a candidate from the same Anambra South for the election the following year because Governor Chukwuma Soludo is from that region.
