“I Won My Polling Unit” - Ondo Speaker Debunks Election Rumours
Published on

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Chief Olamide Oladiji, has refuted claims circulating online that he failed to secure his polling unit for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded governorship election. Describing the reports as malicious and untrue, Oladiji emphasized that he delivered his unit, ward, and local government for the APC.

In a statement personally signed by the Speaker, he clarified the voting results from his polling unit, Sasere Unit 5, Ward 9, Ondo East Local Government Area. He revealed that APC scored 174 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which garnered 61 votes.

“My attention has been drawn to some sponsored reports falsely claiming that I lost my polling unit to the opposition,” the statement read. “These claims are baseless and entirely fabricated. The official INEC result sheet on the IREV database confirms APC’s victory in my unit.”

Oladiji attributed the false claims to political detractors attempting to tarnish his reputation. He urged the public to disregard the misinformation and advised political actors to focus on the State’s progress instead of engaging in smear campaigns.

“This is the handiwork of fifth columnists, but I remain undeterred in my commitment to fostering development in Ondo State,” he said.

The Speaker reaffirmed his dedication to serving his constituency and the State, pledging to promote unity and sustainable growth.
