Vice President Kashim Shettima claims that Nigeria is not only catching up with the rest of the globe, but also on track to overtake the global economy. He made this statement on Tuesday, when he launched the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative in Dutse, Jigawa.

The program was started at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, a suburb of Dutse, as part of Nigeria's digital transformation and African leadership plan.

With the help of IT startup Gluwa, the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative seeks to teach 1,000 Nigerians a year in artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other cutting-edge technologies.

Shettima emphasised that "it is important for the nation's economic future" as he asked the young people to support the effort. Citing Jigawa state as the pioneer in the use of digital technologies, he described the program as "A homecoming ceremony for those who have eased our journey through the Fourth Industrial Revolution".

Shettima stated that the plan is being adopted nationwide to establish a network of digital centres that will drive Nigeria's economic growth for many years to come, while also expressing the federal government's larger goal.

Shettima praised Gluwa for empowering Aella Microfinance Bank and highlighted the company's noteworthy contribution.

He claimed that two million Nigerians received payments totalling more than N100 billion as a result of their empowerment.
