President Tinubu Appoints Bianca Ojukwu, Six Others as Ministers

This selection is part of the much-anticipated cabinet rearrangement of Tinubu’s government, which has been in power for over a year.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers to his cabinet.

It was made known in a press release issued by the presidency following the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

The press release reads, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), has endorsed the immediate implementation of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the administration’s capacity for ideal efficiency, pursuant to his dedication to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.”

Bianca Odinakachukwu Olivia Odumegwu-Ojukwu was appointed minister of state for foreign affairs, while Jumoke Oduwole was named minister of industry, trade, and investment.

This selection is part of the much-expected cabinet rearrangement of Tinubu’s government, which has been in power for over a year.

President Tinubu also selected Idi Maiha as Minister for the newly created Livestock Development Ministry, Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Suwaiba Ahmad was appointed as Minister of State for Education, and Dr. Nentawe Yilwada replaced Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

It would be recalled that Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the former Biafran Warlord Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs by Former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. Also, in 2012, she became Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and later served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Oduwole also served as Tinubu’s Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC & Investment until she was nominated minister.

Additionally, the President dismissed Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women’s Affairs; Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education; Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism; Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development.

The President also appointed ten ministers to new ministerial positions.
